Magic Johnson announces docuseries “They Call Me Magic” coming to Apple TV+

Earvin “Magic” Johnson is coming to Apple with a four-part real-life story titled “They Call Me Magic.”

“They Call Me Magic” will take fans into the life and career of the iconic basketball player by offering rare glimpses of Johnson’s life as well as the impact he has made on and off the court.

The docuseries explores Earvin “Magic” Johnson’s remarkable journey from being a part of the “Showtime Lakers” to becoming the face of the Los Angeles Lakers and an all-time NBA legend to the conversation around HIV. He will also discuss his transition from the NBA into a successful entrepreneur and community activist. Also his humble beginnings in Lansing, Michigan to becoming the global force he is today.

The series will be directed by Rick Famuyiwa  from “Dope” along with editor Dirk Westervelt of “Ford v Ferrari” and cinematographer Rachel Morrison of “Black Panther.” The docuseries is produced for Apple by XTR and New Slate Ventures, and produced in association with H.Wood Media and Delirio Films.

The highly anticipated four-part docuseries is set to debut April 22 on Apple TV+.
