LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s SpringHill Entertainment production company will officially be rebooting “House Party.”
Christopher “Play” Martin acknowledges that the remake is being handled personally by James, who is “very involved” behind the scenes.
The original film starred Martin and his rap partner Christopher Reid; Tisha Campbell, Martin Lawrence, A.J. Johnson; and many more familiar faces in Black culture. The premise of the flick follows a group of teenagers as they endure a disastrous turn of events at a house party.
The remake of the 90s classic will star Jacob Latimore, Tosin Cole, Rotimi, DC Young Fly, Bill Bellamy, and others.
According to Warner Bros. the synopsis will focus on a pair of house cleaners who “discover they’re assigned to clean the mansion of LeBron James while he’s overseas where they decide to make a life-changing decision to throw a giant party in a quest for immortality and some cash.”
Christopher “Play” Martin stated that he is excited for the new generation of actors to bring the classic to life.
At the moment, there aren’t any details on if any former characters from the classic films are going to make a cameo appearance in the upcoming movie.
Originally the film was scheduled to be released in July on HBO Max but there were a few setbacks. Viewers will have to wait to see when the film will be released. According to The Jasmine Brand, the film has been in the making for four years.
