Is it the devil or is it you?

You remember the time when you would hear your grandmother, or any elder, yell “That ain’t nothing but the devil!”? They could be watching the Price is Right and somebody just missed out on $10,000 and say, “Chile that ain’t nothing but the devil.”

As funny as it may seem to blame everything on the devil, he couldn’t possibly be the reason for all our mishaps. Right? Did he tell you to procrastinate on your final project? Or did he give you a sign telling you to go to brunch with your friends for bottomless mimosas and just do the project later.

When do we ever take accountability for our own actions? We know the devil really didn’t have any parts because there is only one omnipresent being who is all-seeing, all-knowing and self-existing, and that my friend is God. I’m not judging, no one is perfect, but learn to see yourself in God’s image. You think God is out here just blaming everything on the devil? No.

Here are a few ways to learn how to be more accountable:

  1. Create goals
  2. Get a journal and write things down
  3. Be honest with yourself
  4. Know the signs of procrastination and avoid them.
  5. Reward yourself when you accomplish a goal

I know, it’s so easy to blame everything on the devil because he’s always up to no good. However, if you call yourself a child of God, you must be able to admit your faults.
