The Milwaukee Timberwolves center  Karl – Anthony Towns speaks out on the lost of his family members due to Covid-19.

Since the start of  this pandemic Towns has lost 7 family members from Covid-19 including his mother, who passed away in April. He disclosed in an interview that he hasn’t been in a good place.

His latest family member was his uncle who had succumbed to his complications of Covid on Wednesday. This virus has devastated the Black community very hard. In an interview with Jon Krawczynski ‘The Athletic’ Towns stated “I’m the one looking for answers to try to keep my family well informed and make all the moves necessary to keep them alive.”

The NBA are planning to open up their training camps while the surge of Covid-19 cases on the rise and hospitals are flooded throughout the region. However, Towns hasn’t been the only NBA player affected by this virus, but he has been hit sadly the worse.

When asked how he felt returning to play his reply was, “It always brought me a smile when I saw my mom at the baseline and in the stands and stuff and having a time watching me play. It’s going to be hard to play. It’s going to be difficult to say that this is therapy. I don’t think this will ever again  be therapy for me. But it gives me a chance to relive memories I had, I  guess that’s the only therapy I’m going to get from it. It’s not going to help me emotionally  or anything like that.”

Towns has not played a game since Feb. 10 when the Timberwolves played against the Toronto Raptors, where Towns injured his wrist. This was just a few weeks before the NBA suspended all games due to Rudy Gobert having tested positive in  mid- March.  The league decided that they would pick back up in July however the Timberwolves didn’t do so well, which means they didn’t get to play in the bubble in Orlando, Fl.

Even though the bubble kept the players safe and no one tested positive the league has decided not to continue games there for the 2020-21 season. The clock will start for the new season Dec. 22, 2020
