Rapper Ludacris’ Mercedes-Benz was stolen while he was at an ATM on Monday, January 25. The rapper’s car was running when the crime took place.
Although he did not see the carjacking, he claims he heard the car being seized. For safety, the police did not disclose the exact location of the theft.
Law enforcement electronically tracked down the stolen vehicle. It was recovered in a Midtown apartment parking garage and given back to Ludacris on Monday night.
Car theft in Atlanta is not an uncommon occurrence. Atlanta police have been warning people not to leave their cars on and running.
Police said there have been 99 carjackings in Atlanta within the first week of January; 76 of these jackings include cars where the key was inside or the car was left running.
Ludacris is not the first celebrity to fall victim to the carjackings. Just last week, singer Sammie’s car was broken into in Atlanta. Even Ludacris’ ‘Fast and Furious’ costar, actor Tyrese Gibson, car was stolen a month ago.
Some are speculating that the car thieves are targeting high profiled citizens. With it only being the first month of the year, there is no telling what could happen next. Be safe, Atlanta.
