“Humanize My Hoodie” goes beyond apparel to combat racial stereotyping

One’s sense of style speaks volumes about their personality. The recent increase and joint forces to combat racial inequality has led to highlighting and creating black businesses. ‘Humanize My Hoodie,’ is a brand that is dedicated to being more than apparel.

The brand originated to combat racial stereotyping. Over the years, hoodies, a clothing item designed to protect one from the cold elements has unfortunately been seen as suspicious and dangerous when worn by people of color. The founders, abolitionist Jason Sole and fashion activist Andre Wright saw a problem and are using apparel to create needed conversations and impact the community.

The company has initiated a campaign and going beyond the allotted 28 days of Black history and educating and highlighting Black lives 365 days a year. Through outreach ‘Humanize My Hoodie,’ provide jobs to poor youth, providing hoodies to targeted communities experience hate, and allowing formerly incarcerated people to be more than the record. They have recently added a homework hotline for kids in grades K-12.

The hoodies come in different designs and various graphics and educational references on them that will definitely make a statement anywhere it is worn.
