Age is nothing but a number! God’s timing not my own! I’m walking in my purpose! Have you heard these sayings before? You may have even said them before. All are true for a 70-year- old woman from Alabama, Ms. Ora Sylvester has just released her first Gospel album.
Sylvester dedicated three years to developing her album with the help of her producer Luther Harris. Harris stated, “It was mindblowing the age she is, to move and persevere. She gets around better than young people around here.”
Sylvester describes her unique sound as ‘soul gospel.’ She hopes her album and story inspires people also noting, “We don’t have to give up on life. You can still dream, and you can accomplish it if you are persistent. I like to say its soulful gospel, and it takes the listener to a new level of inspiration when you hear them.”
This is a testament to trusting God’s timing while embracing and pursuing your purpose. God has a plan for us all. Have you thought you are too old, or too inexperienced to follow your dreams? We are told in Philippians 4:13, I can do all things through him who strengthens me. Also, in Habakkuk 2:13 it reads, for still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.
God has used many people in various times of their lives. Never put limitations on God. He can work with your age, circumstance, location, knowledge etc. Remember to be obedient to God like Ms. Sylvester has been and remember God is with you in all that you do.
