At this year’s Met Gala, fashion icon Kim Kardashian wore an antique dress, also worn by actress Marilyn Monroe.

This one-of-a-kind dress was in the possession of Ripley’s Entertainment after being sold to them in 2016 for $4.8 million dollars.

In an interview with Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb on TODAY, Kardashian expressed that she wore the dress momentarily and no there was no damage done to the dress.

She also shared her excitement about wearing an icon piece for such a monumental event.

“…That with the theme being American I thought what was more American than Marilyn Monroe singing happy birthday,” said Kardashian.

She expressed that Ripley’s Entertainment has made statements supporting that she has caused no damage to the dress.

According to a statement released by Ripley’s Entertainment, “The historical importance of the dress has not been negated, but rather highlighted. An entirely new group of young people has now been introduced to the legacy of Marilyn Monroe.”
