Nia Long’s Fiancé and Boston Celtics Coach, Ime Udoka, is facing suspension over reports that he had a consensual relationship with a member of Boston Celtics staff.
The head coach of the basketball team violated the franchise’s code of conduct by having an improper intimate and consensual relationship with a woman on the team staff.
Boston Celtics executives announced Udoka has been suspended for the rest of the 2022-23 season for “violations of team policies”.
According to Gossip of the City Tea, allegedly the Celtics organization knew of the intimate relationship between Udoka and the female employee since July.
Ime Udoka has since issued an apology to his family and all those he have hurt following the reports.
“I want to apologize to our players, fans, the entire Celtics organization, and my family for letting them down,” he said. “I am sorry for putting the team in this difficult situation, and I accept the team’s decision. Out of respect for everyone involved, I will have no further comment.”
Nia Long, who shares a 10-year-old son with Ime, has broken her silence stating, “The outpouring of love and support from family, friends and the community during this difficult time means so much to me. I ask that my privacy be respected as I process the recent events. Above all, I am a mother and will continue to focus on my children.”
Boston Celtics officials added that a decision about Udoka’s future with the team beyond this season will be “made at a later date”.
