Rapper and actor Common set to make his Broadway debut in Stephen Adly Guirgis’ Between Riverside And Crazy beginning December 19th.

Common will be playing ‘Junior’ who was originally played by Ron Cephas-Jones in the 2015 play.

Most of the cast from the 2015 Broadway production will reprise their roles, including Stephen McKinley Henderson, Victor Almanzar, Elizabeth Canavan, Rosal Colón, Liza Colón-Zayas and Michael Rispoli.

The Austin Pendleton-directed play tells the story of ex-cop and widower Walter “Pops” Washington (Stephen McKinley Henderson) and his recently paroled son Junior (Common). The two face challenges as they try to hold on to one of the last great rent stabilized apartments on Riverside Drive. As City Hall begins making demands, the landlord wants the father-son duo out of the building. The play examines “old wounds, sketchy new houseguests and a final ultimatum…”

Common has tapped into the acting world for a while in movies such as Alice, Just Wright, Now You See Me, Luv, and many more projects.

Now he is joining the theater community in Pulitzer-Winning Play Between Riverside And Crazy with an amazing cast along his side.
