Drake, Ye, and Kendrick Lamar lead BET Hip Hop Awards nominations

The 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards is going to go down as another night in award show history!

The home of Black entertainment just announced the host and list of nominees for one of Hip Hop’s most notable events.

The show will be hosted by Grammy Award winning rapper, Fat Joe. It will be taped September 30 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, Georgia, and will air October 4 at 9 p.m. ET/ PT.

Drake is currently in the lead, receiving 14 nominations in categories including, “ ‘Best Live Performer,’ ‘Lyricist of the Year,’ ‘Hip Hop Album of the Year,’ ‘Hip Hop Artist of the Year,’ ‘Hustler of the Year,’ twice for ‘Sweet 16: Best Featured Verse,’ three for ‘Best Collaboration,’ twice for ‘Best Hip Hop Video,’ and twice for ‘Song of the Year.’

Kanye West comes close with a total of 10 nominations including, ‘Best Live Performer,’ ‘Hip Hop Album of the Year,’ ‘Hip Hop Artist of the Year,’ ‘Producer of the Year,’ ‘Hustler of the Year,’ ‘Best Hip Hop Video,’ ‘Best Collaboration,’ Song of the Year,’ ‘Impact Track,’ and ‘Sweet 16: Best Featured Verse.’

Kendrick Lamar comes in third, racking up a total of nine nominations for the categories, ‘Best Live Performer,’ ‘Lyricist of the Year.’ ‘Hip Hop Album of the Year,’ ‘Hip Hop Artist of the Year,’ twice for ‘Impact Track.’ ‘Video Director of the Year,’ ‘Best Hip Hop Video,’ and ‘Best Collaboration.’

Future comes after with eight nominations. In addition, Baby Keem, J. Cole, and Cardi B make the top five list with a total of six nominations.

Other artists nominated for more than one award include, Doja Cat, Latto, Lil Durk, Tems, Young Thug, Benny The Butcher, City Girls, Fivio Foreign, Glorilla, Jay-Z, Megan Thee Stallion, Nas, and Usher.
