White House counselor Kellyanne Conway announced on Sunday that she is resigning from her position effective at the end of the month. George Conway, announced via twitter that he would be stepping away from the Lincoln Project. Both cited the need to refocus on their family.
In a released statement Kelly said,
“We disagree about plenty but we are united on what matters most: the kids. Our four children are teens and ‘tweens starting a new academic year, in middle school and high school, remotely from home for at least a few months. As millions of parents nationwide know, kids ‘doing school from home’ requires a level of attention and vigilance that is as unusual as these times.”
The announcement comes after 15 year old daughter Claudia tweeted on Saturday that she wanted to be emancipated from her parents. Claudia has gained a following on social media app TikTok. In many of the videos she opposes Trump’s policies, urges people to leave 1 star reviews at Trump owned businesses, discusses her parents’ marriage, and her avid support for the Black Lives Matter movement.
Kelly and George have been in the media due to them being on the opposite side of the political spectrum. George Conway has been a harsh critic of the Trump administration which has caused much conflict between Kellyanne and him due to her being employed by President Trump. She landed her position in 2016 after becoming the first female campaign manager to win a presidential race. George went on to be apart of The Lincoln Project. A political action committee who is anti Trump administration.
After the announcement by George and Kellyanne, their daughter Claudia went to TikTok to say her parents were going to get divorced but are now going to work it out due to her wanting to be emancipated. She made accusations that her parents have abused her and do not care about her.
Kelly said, “In time, I will announce future plans. For now, and for my beloved children, it will be less drama, more mama.”
