The 35th Annual Stellar Awards was jam packed with performances by powerful gospel artists including CeCe Winans and Tye Tribbet. The award show that honors gospel music took place on Sunday with hosts Kirk Franklin, Koryn Hawthorne, and Jonathan McReynolds so you know the night was lit.

Veteran gospel artists Kirk Franklin and Donald Lawrence led the night with the most awards, however, some new faces on the scene made sure to get a piece of the pie. Pastor Mike Jr. took home New Artist of the Year and Rap Hip Hop Gospel Album of the year. He expressed his astonishment via Instagram.

“2x Stellar Award Winner!!! God is BLOWN MY MIND!!!”

The pastor of Rock City Church from Birmingham, Alabama blessed the world with huge music hits titled, “Big” and “I Got It” that no doubt contributed to his successful night at the Stellar Awards.

Along with recognizing gospel music artists’ achievements with what seems to be a new two-year tradition. The show could not end the night without honoring a legendary figure in society. The Winans performed a tribute to the late American politician and Civil Rights activist John Lewis who lost his battle to pancreatic cancer a little over a month ago.
