Comedian Dave Chappelle’s request was known and granted, by Netflix to cancel “The Chappelle Show.” It streamed back on November 1st. The stand-up comedian took to social media to explain his decision.

He claimed that ViacomCBS never paid him because he signed the contract.

“They (ViacomCBS) didn’t have to pay me because I signed the contract,” Chappelle claims. “But is that right? I found out that these people were streaming my work and they never had to ask me or they never have to tell me. Perfectly legal ‘cause I signed the contract. But is that right? I didn’t think so either.”

The comedy central show aired from 2003 to 2006. Dave Chappelle decided to leave the show in 2005 due to stress and network creative differences. The final season only finished 3 episodes.

The stand up comedian went on to praise netflix, as he has a current deal with them now.

“That’s why I f— with Netflix,” Chappelle added. “Because they paid me my money, they do what they say they’re going to do and they went above and beyond what you can expect from a businessman. They did something just because they thought that I might think that they were wrong. I do, I think if you are f—ing streaming that show you’re fencing stolen goods. They stole that from me. They just took it. I’m not up here trying to tell you guys that I believe that Comedy Central gave me a raw deal just because I’m Black, I believe they gave me a raw deal because this f—ing industry is a monster.”

Chappelle signed his deal with netflix back in 2016 for 5 comedy specials. Reportedly, he is making 20 million per special. Currently all his specials are available on all streaming platforms and are still available to watch.
