Rapper Lil Wayne was charged as a convicted felon for the possession of a firearm and ammunition on Tuesday, November 17.

Authorities found a gold plated gun on his private jet in Miami back in 2019. His private plane was flying from California to Florida.

Federal agents raided his plane to find marijuana, cocaine, bullets, ecstasy, other narcotics after receiving a tip that the aircraft was carrying drugs and firearms. He did, however, state that the gun was a Father’s Day gift.

He will not be facing any drug-related charges, however, he is a convicted felon and is not allowed to carry a firearm which could result in the rapper facing up to 10 years in prison.

Carter’s attorney, Howard Srebnick, stated that Carter never used the gun and never intended to. Srebnick continues to note,

“There is no allegation that he is a dangerous person,” said Srebnick. “The charge is that because he was convicted of a felony in the past, he is prohibited from possessing a firearm.”

Carter has yet to speak out since news broke out about the charges. His court date is set to be December 11 of this year.
