Rapper and business mogul Percy “Master P” Miller is partnering with former NBA player Baron Davis to buy the sneaker and sportswear brand, Reebok, for $2.4 billion.

The German sportswear company, Adidas is Reebok’s parent company and they are looking to sell the brand after 14 years of acquiring the company themselves. Reebok began in 1958 and has been a part of the rap and street culture since the 1980s.

Apparently, Adidas declared that Reebok’s book value decreased to $995 million. Now the asking price to buy the company will be around $2.4 billion.

Davis talked to Forbes magazine saying that Reebok is undervalued. He said, “ I want the people I know, athletes, influencers, designers, celebs to sit at the table with me.”

According to Forbes, Reebok is having a difficult time connecting with today’s trends and they hope that the rapper and former NBA player will acquire the brand to make Reebok into a more lifestyle brand.

“As we focus on turning Reebok into a lifestyle brand not just a basketball brand, our most important initiative will be to put money back into the community that built this company,” says Master P.

ESPN’s Eric Woodyard stated, “These companies have been benefiting off us, this could be history for this company going Black-owned.”

This deal could take a few more months to settle and no further information provided but with Reebok recently working with Cardi B and Kendrick Lamar there is no telling how this deal will play out with sales increasing from those mega stars.
