Nate Parker has released the chilling trailer for ‘‘American Skin’’ and it has everyone talking.

The energy for this film looks like it will be legendary when it debuts in January of 2021 on Martin Luther King day.

“American Skin” world premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2019 and won the Sconfini section’s Filming Italy Award. Vertical Entertainment will be a theatrical and digital release making the movie eligible for the Oscars.

Parker directed, wrote and plays Lincoln Jefferson in the film where he is a grief-stricken janitor and ex-Iraq War vet who seeks justice after his Black teenage son is killed by a white police officer. Omari Hardwick, Theo Rossi and Beau Knapp are additional castmates added to this epic film.

The film was independently financed by Mark Burg and Tarak Ben Ammar’s Eagle Pictures, and backed by Spike Lee. Lee seems to be using his experience and sehttps://www.imdb.com/name/nm5654843/niority to help Parker in any way to help bring voices to the Black communities. Burg and Ammar helped produce “American Skin” with Lukas Behnken. Zak Tanjeloff was executive producer on the film and co-produced by R.D. Delgado.

Parker was inspired to create the film on the continuous murder of Black people at the hands of policemen mainly after the killing of Mike Brown.

“In 2014, following the death of Michael Brown, I traveled to Ferguson, Missouri to stand against the overt domestic terrorism I saw spreading like a virus throughout our country. My hope was both to amplify calls for justice, while seeking a better understanding of the tensions between law enforcement and men and women of color. “ Parker spoke.

“It became even more clear to me, the disconnect in our collective understanding of citizenship, law enforcement, and our responsibility to preserve American Black lives. This trip and subsequent killings developed in me a fire that manifested itself into the makings of this film ‘American Skin.’” Parker continued to speak.

Lee was also inspired to create “BlacKkKlansmen” after the Charlottesville riots were white supremacists terrorized the local community, causing the death of white activist, Heather Heyer.
