Gabrielle Union to speak at the Black Beauty Roster Digital Summit

We Are The Rhoads

The Black Beauty Digital Summit’s focus is diversifying beauty in Hollywood. Gabrielle Union is scheduled to host a fireside chat to share her experience in regards to beauty within the entertainment industry. Union revealed in a statement saying, “Early in my career, I struggled to work with beauty professionals that were trained to work with my hair texture and skin tone.”

As the actress Union is always camera ready her haircare line has a fitting name entitled “Flawless.” The brand was co-founded by Union and her personal stylist Larry Sims. Sims will also be joining the chat to discuss the beauty industry.

The founders of BBR are Maude Okrah and Simone Tetteh. The two joined forces after difficulty finding beauty professionals that were experienced and skilled within their everyday lives. They quickly found out that it was even more challenging within the entertainment industry, and from there the summit was born. The two women set out and crafted a panel with a mission to address the common misconceptions and the blocks that exist for beauty professionals of color.

The event will be an 8-hour live event. Audience members will have the chance to engage with speakers and ask questions. The event will also host make up tutorials provided by L’Oréal that will focus on beauty techniques for dark skin tones. If you are a cosmetologist, influencer, artist or just someone interested in learning of the inequalities of beauty in the entertainment industry then this summit is for you. The event will premiere February 28th from 12-8pm ET, and you can register for free on the summit’s site.
