PBS new series, “The Black Church” features Oprah Winfrey, John Legend, Jennifer Hudson, and more

Black people and religion have a long and rich history. The experience, the traditions, and culture that has been birthed from the Black church is like no other.

The new series is hosted by Henry Louis Gates, Jr. Gates is the Alphonse Fletcher University Professor at Harvard University and director of the Hutchins Center for African and African American Research. The series will be in  two-parts totaling four hours of exploring the deep-rooted history of the Black church. Interviews will be shown with well known celebrities such as Jennifer Hudson, Oprah Winfrey, John Legend, Yolanda Adams, and many more.

The series will go as far back as slavery and down the timeline of the expansion of religion via the Black church. The series is set to air part one Feb 16th and the final part Feb 17th.
