Pastor Michael Todd is back after last Sunday where he shared his platform with Pastor Robert Morris. As expected, Pastor Todd delivered yet another moving and noteworthy sermon. In continuation with the Paper Chasers series he further addressed managing finances from a biblical stance.

Basketball Analogy: In honor of March Madness, Pastor Todd uses a basketball analogy to show the phases Christians and believers go through within the faith. In summary he explains the difference that is presented from someone that plays basketball from elementary to college. Every phase builds upon the other requiring more of the player.

  1. Participation 2. Preparation 3. Dedication 4. Separation 5. Concentration

Note 1: Maturity is a sacrifice.

Pastor Todd explains, what you are willing to part with, proves what you are willing to be a part of. When we are mature we let go of things, in immaturity we are selfish and hold on to things. This is the Elsa equation, “let it go.” (Desire, Location, Part With, A Part of)

Note 2: The principle of tithing is only for people who consider God first in their life.

Scripture: Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the firstfruits of all your increase; So your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine. (Proverbs 3: 9-10)

Scripture: The first of the firstfruits of your land you shall bring into the house of the Lord your God. (Exodus 23:19)

Note 3: It takes faith to give the first.

Pastor Todd explains that it easy to give your leftovers, after everything else is taken care of. You show true faith and obedience when you give to God first.

This message complimented last weeks sermon on tithing. It further explains how to properly give to God. As explained by Pastor Todd, its not giving it is bringing your offering because God provided all that you have.

Hopefully you are following along with this series and it is blessing you as it is so many others. Please go and watch the sermon for yourself and see what resonates with you.
