Pastor Todd, has a skill of using current events in his sermons to teach a lesson, all while glorifying God. He has used the Gorilla Glue girl, and now “Where The Money Resides.” As expected, he used it to only leverage his message as he continues his “Paper Chaser” series.

Note 1. The paper without purpose is pointless.

Pastor Todd stresses this point and states this will be the main theme throughout the series. The culture will tell you to go after paper, but the Bible tells you to go after purpose. Pastor Todd, says we must divorce what we learned about money from rappers, family, books, etc. Instead follow what God says.

Note 2. God has standards, man has suggestions

God has a supreme strategy and man has a strongholds. A stronghold, is anything that attempts to re-define anything that God has already defined or manufactured.

Note 3: Paper chasers live for passion, purpose chasers live from principles.

Passions are fleeting, going with passions often translates I want to go with the trend. Principles are more powerful than passions.

Scripture: “The farmer plants seeds by taking God’s word to others. The seed that fell on the footpath represents those who hear the message, only to have Satan come at once and take it away. (Mark 4:14-20)

Scripture: “The seed on the rocky soil represents those who hear the message and immediately receive it with joy. But since they don’t last long. They fall away as soon as they have problem or are persecuted.” (Mark 4:16-17)

Scripture: “The seed that fell among the thorns represents others who hear God’s word, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life, the lure of wealth, and the desire for other things, so no fruit produced.” (Mark 4: 18-20)

Scripture: “And the seed that fell on good soil represents those who hear and accept God’s word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted. (Mark 4: 20)

Note 4: The seed is always subject to soil

Pastor Todd explains that in situations that don’t seem to work or look like someone’s life was because the soil was different. In Mark 4, the different types of soils are explained. The seed may be good but survey the soil. The soil represents your heart.

Scripture: “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.” (Proverbs 4:23)

Note 5: Giving is all about the heart.

Giving does not always equate to give monetarily. Your heart follows your treasures. Pastor Todd stated that where you put your money can be GPS tracked to where your heart is also.

Scripture: “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:21)

The last takeaway, is remember that money is a resource not the source. You must make and keep God as the priority. The series will continue next week, make sure you go and watch the sermon and allow the message to bless your specific situation.
