The Paper Chaser series by Pastor Mike Todd of Transformation Church has been a series of great magnitude. Throughout the series Pastor Todd has credited Pastor Robert Morris author of “Blessed Life.” Pastor Todd adopted this series after learning from the book “Blessed Life,” and how God has worked in his life personally. This Sunday, Pastor Todd switched roles and took the front seat as many of us do as well virtually every week and received the word from Pastor Robert.

Pastor Robert’s message spoke on tithing. This is a trigger word for some, however the way in which he delivered this message may make some change their view to be more in line with God’s instruction for us to give.

Note 1: Every time you get payed, you take a test.

Pastor Robert states. “The test is whom are you going to worship. Whom are you going to thank for your resources? The first person you pay is who you worship.”

Scripture: “For I am the Lord, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob. Yet from the days of your fathers you have gone away from My ordinances and have not kept them. Return to Me, and I will return to you,” says the Lord of hosts.” But you said, ‘In what we shall return?’ (Malachi 3:6-7)

Ordinance: (def) Is a principle of ordinary behavior.

Note 2: When you do not tithe you are robbing God of the blessing, of the ability to be able to bless you.

Scripture: “will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say,” In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings. You are cursed with a curse, for you have robbed Me, even this whole nation. (Malachi 3”8-9)

Note 3: Tithing allows for there to be spiritual food.

Scripture: “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in my house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of Heaven and pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it.” (Malachi 3:10)

Note 4: Tithe means ten, and tithe is a test

Note 5: Tithing is Biblical

Scripture: “Then Welchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was the priest of God Most High. And he blessed him and said: “Blessed be Abram of God Most High, Possessor of Heaven and Earth; And blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” And he gave him a tithe of all. (Genesis 14:18-20)

Scripture: “And this stone which I have set as a pillar shall be God’s house, and of all that You give me I will surely give a tenth to You.” (Genesis 28:22)

Scripture: “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the other undone.” (Matthew 23:23)

The Sermon dives into more ways in which finances and tithing has blessed Pastor Robert and his family as well as others. Through this sermon it reminded all that it’s not just that giving is not a dreaded time when the collection plate comes around where all of the sudden people have to go to the restroom. We shouldn’t neglect it, yet embrace it. God asks for 10 percent, that is applicable of all incomes and financial statuses. Keep these notes in mind when it is time to give.

As always watch the sermon for yourself and see what stands out to you.
