NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and the NBA Players Association did it! After months of planning and public scrutiny, the 2021 NBA All-Star Game concluded successfully in Atlanta Sunday night; culminating in a 170-150 victory for Team Lebron over Team Durant.

In recent years, the NBA has named the player with the most fan votes in each conference as the team captain. Lebron James (5,922,554 votes) and Kevin Durant (5,567,106 votes) led the way for their respective conferences, and James ultimately was able to pick a better team than Durant.

Giannis Antetokounmpo (35 points 16/16 FG), Stephen Curry (28 points and 8 threes), and Damian Lillard (32 points and 8 threes) led the way for Team Lebron. Bradley Beal (26 points) and Kyrie Irving (24 points and 12 assists) played well for Team Durant. With their win, the “King’s” team was able to win $750,000 for its chosen charity, the Thurgood Marshall College Fund.

The Covid-19 pandemic did have an effect on the weekend’s festivities. Eastern Conference All-Stars Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons were not allowed to play in the game, due to possible exposure to the virus via their shared barber.

The other events (Slam-Dunk contest, Three-Point Shootout, Skills Challenge) all occurred on Sunday as well; since the league decided it best to have just one day of activities.

The Pacers’ Domantas Sabonis won the Skills Challenge, the Warrior’s Stephen Curry won the Three-Point Shootout, and the Trailblazer’s Anfernee Simons won the dunk contest.
