BET to honor the late DMX with special tribute at the 2021 BET Awards

In 2020 many award shows were forced to go virtual due to Covid-19 regulations. Now with the implementation of vaccines and cases declining many award shows will return to in person programs. BET is among those that will host a live show and invite your favorite celebrities to return to one of the most watched awards shows on television.

As many celebrities and artists will be in attendance some people’s absence will be hard to ignore. The recent loss of legendary artist DMX is still fresh and at the forefront of grieving fans and close friends. BET has announced that with the help of DMX’s good friend Swizz Beatz that they will honor him with a special tribute. The tribute will include performances by Method Man, Griselda, Busta Rhymes, and an appearance by Michael K. Williams.

Fans can expect to hear some of DMX’s greatest hits such as ‘Get at Me Dog,’ ‘Party Up,’ ‘Slippin,’ and more. A new song from DMX’s posthumous album ‘Exodus,’ will be presented by Ruff Ryders.

Connie Orlando, Executive Vice President of Specials and Music Programming & Music Strategy, acknowledged the impact that DMX had on fans and added, “We are proud to pay our respects to a hip-hop legend on our biggest stage, the BET Awards.”

The BET Awards Show will be a must see be sure to catch it live Sunday June 27 at 8:00 PM, ET.
