Bishop Hezekiah Walker, Grammy award winning gospel singer is bringing new resources to Virginia Union University. Walker has been a student at the university for two years and is going beyond the books to contribute a gospel music academic center. The center will be led by Walker and called “Hezekiah Walker Center of Gospel Music.” The center will teach the history, business, and cultural aspect of gospel music.
Walker stated, “I thought it was a great opportunity to invite people to come to Virginia Union for gospel music and they can learn about our heritage,”
Virginia Union University is known widely for their Theology program which led Walker to enrolling. He plans to construct the curriculum for songwriters, producers, instrumentalists, and all other professions within the gospel industry.
The center is expected to open in Spring 2022. Walker will remain a student, while developing the center, and soon to release a new album.
