NAACP
The NAACP and BET have announced that the 53rd NAACP Image Awards will be broadcast live from Los Angeles on February 26, 2022, at 8 PM EST/5 PM PST.
Presented by Wells Fargo and sponsored by FedEx, America’s distinguished award show is back to honor the achievements and performances of people of color in competitive categories such as film, television + streaming, music, literature, and podcasts.
This year, four new podcast categories have been included:
- Outstanding Lifestyle / Self-Help Podcast;
- Outstanding Society and Culture Podcast; and
- Outstanding Arts and Entertainment Podcast.
- Outstanding News and Information Podcast
The NAACP will also recognize winners in non-televised Image Awards categories from February 21 to February 23. These categories will stream on www.naacpimageawards.net and during the NAACP Image Awards Dinner, which will be held on February 25 in Los Angeles.
As the show will be broadcast on BET, company president Scott Mills commented:
BET is proud to continue our long-standing partnership with the NAACP and amplify their efforts to honor the extraordinary contributions made by the Black community. We look forward to recognizing Black excellence at this year’s Image Awards on all of our platforms, celebrating those who help tell our distinctive stories in empowering and engaging ways.
NAACP President & CEO Derrick Johnson added:
Black artists over the past year have not only showcased our history and uplifted values of progressive change but have also redefined genres and brought our stories to the screen in so many creative ways. Now more than ever, we need Black voices to push the envelope, educate, and inspire audiences around the world. We’re proud to once again provide a space that both elevates and celebrates these voices through the 53rd NAACP Image Awards.
Nominees of the 53rd NAACP Image Awards will be announced on January 11, 2022.

Today, I went to the beachfront with my children. I found
a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed
the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
