Money Challenge is the newest trend to hit the internet, with a variety of rappers posting photos of themselves with words spelled out in cash.

It all began when Young Boy Never Broke Again posted a message threatening Lil Durk after releasing a diss track called, “Bring the Hook” off of his new mixtape, Colors. The beef first started after his close affiliate Lul Tim, shot and killed King Von, famed rapper and close friend of Lil Durk back in November of 2020.

Durk responded with a message of his own spelled out in cash. This led others to participate in the challenge including Yung Miami, Future, and Fivio Foreign.

While many artists have posted the challenge, 50 Cent and Soulja Boy are both saying that they started the trend first.

“When I look back at some of the shit that I did, I be bugging out,” 50 Cent captioned an old photo with him posing beside the word “BROKE” spelled out in cash. “I see all these new versions I like all of them.”

Soulja Boy clapped back with a petty post of his own. He went on Instagram and shared a screenshot from 2016 with his name spelled out with $100 bills.

“I was the first to do it,” he wrote.

Nick Cannon also added his two cents with the challenge by posting a picture on Instagram by spelling out “IRS Watching” with toilet paper.

Although it is unclear who really started the challenge, it has definitely created a buzz within the hip-hop community.
