BET Her to release short films with directors Meagan Good, Naturi Naughton, Tichina Arnold, and LisaRaye McCoy

BET Her and Tressa Smallwood of MegaMind Media came together to produce four original short films with Meagan Good, Naturi Naughton, Tichina Arnold, and LisaRaye McCoy, and many other directors.

“BET Her is dedicated to telling stories that support and celebrate Black women in front of and behind the camera as well as bringing awareness to important issues directly affecting the Black community. Smallwood serves as executive producer where all of the series will be under the BET Her “Her Stories” franchise which is a platform that empowers the next generation of Black women filmmakers through a curated selection of original movies and documentaries.

Not only will the short films premiere in July, right in time for Minority Mental Health Month and October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The drama films are all written, directed, and produced by Black women who through their stories and are bringing awareness to issues affecting the Black community like the impact of breast cancer, mental health struggles, and domestic violence.

Shooting just began in Prince George’s County, Maryland where Meagan Good is directing the original film scripted by Ariel Driskell Thin, Like Me! and Naturi Naughton will direct Behind The Smile! which is written by Lori Conway Ray starting July 9th.

On October 8th, Tichina Arnold is set to direct Oh Baby Baby!, co-written by Maggy Francois and Maimah Karmo and LisaRaye McCoy will direct The Pink Fight written by K. Senay.
