On Mother’s Day weekend, Mary J. Blige will headline her first-ever festival and summit in downtown Atlanta sponsored by Pepsi.
The Strength of a Woman Festival is sponsored by Live Nation and will be a three day event filled with comedy, music, financial literacy, and community building from May 6-8th.
Blige orchestrated the festival by partnering with Nicole Jackson, Vice President of MJB Inc., and Marketing Maven Ashaunna Ayars of The Ayars Agency, with support from Mari Davies, Vice President of Booking and Talent at Live Nation Urban.
“I’m thrilled to present a powerful lineup of all-female talent headlined by, and in partnership with, Mary J Blige for the Inaugural Strength of a Woman Weekend in Atlanta. Mary’s story and career are so inspirational, relatable, and triumphant. The weekend will showcase and celebrate strong talented women across generations and I’m proud to be a part of such a special weekend! This is for us and by us,” stated Davies.
The festival will include a show at Tabernacle Atlanta highlighting the next generation’s culture and emerging Hip-Hop and R&B superstars such as Kiana Ledé, Emotional Oranges, Inayah, MK XYZ, Omerettá the Great, and many more.
Atlanta radio personality Wanda will host a comedy event at Buckhead Theater featuring Ms. Pat, Just Nesh, and Erica Duchess.
On Saturday, the summit will kick off at The Gathering Spot ATL with female-led workshops and panel discussions to bring the festival’s mission of empowerment, elevation, and education to life. That night Kenny Burns will host a concert featuring Chaka Khan, City Girls, Ella Mai, Xscape, Queen Naija, and more.
Towards the end of the big event there will be a Mother’s Day Gospel Brunch at City Winery on May 8th featuring gospel artists such as Kierra Sheard, Le’Andria Johnson, and more.
The three day women empowered event is live with pre-sale tickets currently on-sale and general tickets beginning Thursday (March 10) at 10 a.m. ET where all tickets can be purchased at https://www.soawfestival.com/.
