The NFL has banned Atlanta Falcons receiver Calvin Ridley for the entire 2022 season for betting on games.

According to a statement released by the NFL, Ridley’s bets were made over a 5 day period in November while he was on the non-football injury list for his mental health.

Commissioner Roger Goodell stated on Monday, Ridley will undergo the one-year suspension and explained why bets put the game at risk.

“There is nothing more fundamental to the NFL’s success and to the reputation of everyone associated with our league, than upholding the integrity of the game,” Goodell wrote in his statement. “This is the responsibility of every player, coach, owner, game official, and anyone else employed in the league. Your actions put the integrity of the game at risk, threatened to damage public confidence in professional football, and potentially undermined the reputations of your fellow players throughout the NFL.”

Calvin Ridley took to twitter unphased by the suspension.

“I bet 1500 total I don’t have a gambling problem”.

The last tweet he tweeted states, “If you know me you know my character”. Ridley will be able to petition for reinstatement in 2023.
