On Tuesday, March 8, President Joe Biden announced that the United States will ban all Russian oil, gas, and coal imports to economically affect the Russian government.

“Today I am announcing the United States is targeting the main artery of Russia’s economy. We’re banning all imports of Russian oil and gas and energy,” said President Biden.

According to CNN, officials have said that Biden has struggled with banning the imports of goods needed in the U.S, in fear that it would increase the steadily rising gas prices.

Biden is hopeful that they will put an end to the chaos they are causing throughout Ukraine.

“If we do not respond to Putin’s assault on global peace and stability today, the cost of freedom and to the American people will be even greater tomorrow,” said President Biden.

Shells, one of the largest oil companies, has withdrawn their involvement “In all Russian hydrocarbons,” according to New York Times.

Companies such as, Coco-cola, McDonalds, Pepsico, and Starbucks have closed their establishments in Russian in response to the recent Ukraine invasion.
