Ciara is now apart of the A-list cast for “The Color Purple” movie musical

In the remix to the original, “The Color Purple” film made in 1985, singer Ciara is called to star in the movie.

The 36-year old singer has been called to join the cast of the movie musical according to ET. Ciara will play the adult version of Nettie, the younger sister of Celie.

Singer Hallie Ballie will play the younger version of Nettie in the upcoming movie. 

The film is going to be directed by the honorary Steven Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey. Scott Sanders and Quincy Jones will help to produce the film as well.

Spielberg and Winfrey both played a key role in “The Color Purple ” film produced in 1985. Spielberg was the director and Winfrey played the ionic role of Sofia, according to People.

Sources from EW noted that respectable cast members include Danielle Brooks as Sofia, Taraji P. Henson as Shug Avery, Colman Domingo as Mister, Corey Hawkins as Harpo, musical artist H.E.R. as Squeak, Louis Gossett Jr. as Ol’ Mister, and David Alan Grier as Reverend Avery.

Ciara raved about her excitement about joining the cast on Twitter, sharing that she is “Honored to be a part of this beautiful ensemble and historic film, The Color Purple. Truly grateful.”

According to EW, filming for this movie will take place this month in Georgia.
