Gospel artist, Janessa Smith, has been announced as the winner of Stellar Awards “Youth Project of The Year.” Smith is a New York native, with Jamaican roots that got an early start in the industry at the youthful age of four years old. Almost a decade later she is still making waves in the industry.

Smith may be the youngest artist on your playlist, but now she has made history as the youngest to ever receive this award in 37 years. Smith’s story began when God gave her a song at the age of four and her parents guided her to use her talents to glorify the Lord, and she never stopped. Her gift led her to receiving a Stellar Award, this is a major accomplishment for the young artist.

Smith shared with The Link Entertainment, that she was relieved when her name was announced and expressed her gratitude of being a recipient. Smith also stated, “I can say it must be apart of my life now that I was born on earth to be an inspiration to many, and it comes directly from God above.”

This is Smith’s second time at the Stellar Awards, but based on her gifts and record it definitely won’t be her last. Smith is an inspiration, and has a bright future ahead of her. Mark your calendars to watch the Stellar Awards air on BET, August 7th at 8:00 PM ET/PT.
