On July 15, actress and comedian Jenifer Lewis will receive her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

“Jenifer Lewis is considered a national treasure and a force to be reckoned with. She is one of those performers who always keeps the audience on their toes,” said Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. “I placed Jenifer’s star next to one of her all-time favorite actresses, the legendary Katharine Hepburn. Those ladies are two peas in a pod, as both delved in Human Rights activities and are known to be as feisty as all get out!”

Lewis’ resume spans over three decades where she first got her recognizable start on “A Different World”. She has appeared in numerous television series, including “Meet The Browns,” “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” “Friends,” “Rugrats,” “Girlfriends” and “American Dad.”

She recently finished her eight-season stint on ABC’s hit sitcom, Black-ish.” Now she has a recurring role on The Ghost and Molly McGee.

In addition to her television work, Lewis has appeared in many movies as well as voiceovers such as “What’s Love Got to Do With It,” “Rugrats,” “The Preacher’s Wife,” “The Princess and the Frog,” “Cars” and “Think Like a Man.”

When not filming, Lewis is a mental health worker as well as a community advocate.

Lewis has devoted her time to many charities including the Human Rights Campaign, the Los Angeles LGBT Center, the Coalition for At-Risk Youth, the Urban League, the EWOC Foundation: Exceptional Women of Color and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. She is also the leader in the fight against the Atlantic Coast Pipeline.

Lewis will receive her star during a ceremony taking place at 11:30 a.m. PT (2:30 p.m. ET) on July 15 at 6284 Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood, California.
