Pastor Michael Todd delivered a sermon stressing the importance of updating your settings. Using the illustration of updating a device to relate to areas in one’s life that should be updated for total transformation. Pastor Todd encouraged listeners to assess their lives to see what they can improve to flourish in 2024 and beyond. If you have become complacent or just lost your momentum in life this message will help you get back on track. As always listen for yourself to see what stands out to you.

  1. Setting of faith: Find a place that you find the freedom to be who God called you to be
  2. The setting of faith will make you flourish
  3. Setting of friends: Be friendly to get friends
  4. Setting of spiritual formation: Find a place/church where you can be formed
  5. Don’t desire the fruit of the early church if you won’t commit to the formula of the early church

The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God. They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green. (Psalms 92:12-14)

Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. (Ecclesiastes 4: 9-12)

One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. (Proverbs 18:24)

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke breadin their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. (Acts 2:42-47)
