The Black community is in uproar after Rosemary Mint Scalp & Hair Strengthening Oil sells out due to a new Tik Tok trend.

Influencer Alix Earle, who accidentally started the trend, stated on her TikTok of her favorite 2022 Amazon purchases that she loves Mielle Organic Rosemary Mint Scalp & Hair Strengthening Oil. She went on to attribute it to her new hair growth.

After getting over four million views and over five hundred thousand likes, people fled to stores to purchase this product.

Days after the video went viral, the rosemary oil was sold out from stores including Target, Amazon, Walmart, and even Sally Beauty.

When the Black community on Tik Tok found out about this, they were not pleased.

Another Tik Toker and law student, Ronelle Tshiela, voiced their concerns by stating, “I need to know something. You go to their website; you see that it’s made by a black woman, and they’re really emphasizing how it works for black women.” She continues, “You know there’re not a lot of products on the market for us.”

She finishes asking in the video, “Knowing everything you know, does it not feel like weird to still hype the product and tell everyone to still buy the product?”

It is not a surprise that Mielle Organics, founded by Monique Rodriguez, created this brand with natural hair in mind.

Yet, with this new worry about whether the formulation would have to change due to the new white consumers’ hair type, including a price increase, Mielle Organics had this to say on Twitter: “The formula hasn’t changed, and we have no plans to change it.”

Even CEO Rodriguez had to post on her Instagram, “We’ve been together on this ride for awhile, so you know that my journey with Mielle started from a place of creating the product I wasn’t finding in the marketplace. We remain forever committed to developing quality, efficacious products that address the need states for our customers’ hair types! “ sincerely Queen of Hair.”

So rest assured that once the shelves are back stocked the formula and mission will remain the same.
