Lifetime original movie pays homage to the life of Gospel singer Mahalia Jackson

Biopics shed light on the lives and impact of legends and history makers. Lifetime will be airing the never before seen story of Mahalia Jackson.

Jackson was born in the early 1900s in Louisiana. Her career lasted around 40 years until her passing in 1972. Jackson began using her powerful voice in her youth. As she matured, she combined her voice for justice and music. She uniquely joined gospel music and civil rights. She sung at the March on Washington in 1963 alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The movie will shed light on her journey to fame and the many trials she faced in her time. The cast features award winning actors including Danielle Brooks, Jason Dirden, Olivia Washington, and many other notable actors.
