Writer and director Ryan Coogler and Coogler’s Proximity Media, will be making a new show based on the kingdom in Wakanda. This 5 year exclusive deal will explore the Black Panthers home nation and is one of many Blank Panther projects with Disney.

There’s little information on the new Wakanda show itself, but presumably the show will continue to build on the foundation that Coogler has set with both Black Panther and the upcoming sequel. The show will most likely not feature an adult Black Panther, since Marvel previously said that it will not recast Chadwick Boseman’s role.

Bob Iger, Executive Chairman of The Walt Disney Company said, “Ryan Coogler is a singular storyteller whose vision and range have made him one of the standout filmmakers of his generation. With Black Panther, Ryan brought a groundbreaking story and iconic characters to life in a real, meaningful and memorable way, creating a watershed cultural moment. We’re thrilled to strengthen our relationship and look forward to telling more great stories with Ryan and his team.”

According to Deadline, Coogler shared it was an honor to partner with Disney and that directing 2018′s “Black Panther” was a dream come true.

Currently in the works is “Black Panther 2”. There is no release date for the new show but the sequel is set to release July 8th 2022. Get ready Wakanda truly is forever.
