The 93rd Oscars Award Show was one for the books. There were stories of conception by Daniel Kaluuya, Musical contest, and Glenn Close doing “Da Butt.” The award show featured diversity like never before. There were many languages represented including the visual language, sign language. The Oscars has made strides since the infamous hashtag #OscarsSoWhite. If you caught a snippet of the show it almost appeared normal in a pre-pandemic sort of way. The award show took Covid-19 regulations to the best of their ability while offering an in-person experience to nominees and winners.

The show shed light on all creatives involved in the filmmaking process. Awards were given to many fan favorite films including Nomadland, Soul, Sound of Metal, Mank, and many others. There were appearances by notable celebrities including Halle Berry, Brad Pitt, Viola Davis, Regina King and many others.

Daniel Kaluuya received an Oscar for his role in ‘Judas and The Black Messiah.’ His speech made his Mother and Sister blush in embarrassment while making others laugh. H.E.R. received an Oscar for her song ‘Fight For You.’ The show winded down with a musical game hosted by Lil Rel Howery with music provided by Quest Love. After trivia from Andra Day and Daniel Kaluuya the final contestant was actress Glenn Close. Close surprised the audience and viewers with her knowledge of the history behind popular song “Da Butt.” The icing on the cake she surprisingly demonstrated the popular dance.

The Oscars also honored Tyler Perry with an Humanitarian Award. Perry has worked hard at giving back and has done a lot for others during the pandemic.

The Oscars has improved over the years and provided a night to remember for all nominees and attendees.
