NBA stars Kevin Durant and Mike Conley garnered huge victories this past weekend, though this time it came away from the hardwood!

“Two Distant Strangers,” a project executive produced by the duo, was awarded the Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film!

Durant and Conley were 2 of the 10 executive producers listed for the film, which was released back on November 20, 2020.

The project’s sci-fi plot centers around a graphic designer (Joey Badass) and a police officer’s (Andrew Beck) repeated violent confrontation, symbolizing the real-world abuse of power by law enforcement against Black Americans.

Both stars took to social media in response to the film’s win, with Durant sending out this tweet:

Back in 2018, the late Kobe Bryant won an Academy Award for “Dear Basketball”, an animated short he wrote, narrated, and produced.

As solely executive producers, Durant and Conley won’t be awarded Oscars individually, but the project’s win is still an impressive accomplishment.
