It’s Hov! It looks like the billionaire mogul/artist will be “smoking on that Parlux pack tonight!”

This past Wednesday, a Manhattan jury cleared Jay-Z in his legal battle against Parlux Fragrances, who claimed the mogul breached the terms of their contract by not properly promoting their joint ‘Gold Jay-Z’ cologne. The entrepreneur and fragrance company went into business together back in 2013, but things quickly fizzled out. As a result of the clearing, Jay-Z avoided having to pay $67.6 million in alleged damages.

However, the jury also dismissed Jay-Z’s countersuit for $6 million. According to the God Emcee, the fragrance company themselves failed to promote the cologne correctly, and actually owed him $6 million in unpaid royalties. In regards to both lawsuits, New York State Supreme Court Justice Andrew Borrok commented:

“You failed to prove your case, they failed to prove their case.”

Despite his own dismissal, Jay-Z appeared highly satisfied with the verdict. When asked by a reporter if he now had “98 problems”, the rapper laughingly responded, “yes, I like that.”

According to Revolt, Parlux Fragrances now has the option to appeal the verdict and take the case to the state appeals court.
