Regina Hall is back with another producing credit to add to her achievements as an actor and producer.

Universal Pictures ‘Midnight Run’ is getting a sequel starring and produced by Regina Hall and Robert De Niro, in which he was one of the leads in the original movie released in 1988.

It is unclear if De Niro is reprising his role as bounty hunter Jack Walsh in the film, but he will be involved in the new version as a producer. Hall will also serve as a producer under her RH Negative banner.

The action comedy will have screenwriter Aeysha Carr set to write the script where it has been kept under wraps who Hall will be playing.

The original “Midnight Run” sees De Niro play Jack Walsh, a bounty hunter who pursues a former Mafia accountant, Jonathan Mardukas played by Charles Grodin who died earlier this year of bone marrow cancer after he skips bail.

The movie inspired follow ups including three made-for-television sequels in 1994, but they didn’t feature any of the original cast or creative team.

As of now, Jesse Collins will be producing the film via Jesse Collins Entertainment and Jane Rosenthal will produce for Tribeca. Berry Welsh will executive produce for Tribeca. Universal Pictures’ senior VP of production development Sara Scott will oversee on behalf of the studio.
