Head Football Coach at Jackson State, Deion Sanders, spoke to Michael Strahan on ‘Good Morning America’ about HBCU programs as well as his new show, Coach Prime: The Fall Season, the six-episode docuseries that takes viewers behind the scenes of JSU’s football.

One-year anniversary of being named head coach, Sanders has kicked down many doors for not only his athletes but all HBCU athletes in the US. His focus has always been on getting as many HBCU football players as he can in front of NFL scouts and being drafted into the league.

Michael Strahan’s production company will be part of the docuseries that’s airing Tuesday.

The docuseries will not just focus on Coach Prime, but also “so many other HBCUs who are overlooked and underfunded.” The series will further speak about Sanders’ illness he experienced last season, as well as, cover the Tigers’ championship season, and the recruitment of the No. 1 recruit in the nation five-star talent, Travis Hunter.

“Oftentimes, we’re overlooked and underfunded. People just take that for granted. I’m seeing 100 or so kids everyday smiling and working their butts off. Now we’re getting a new locker room. We already have the new football field. Under Armour has done a phenomenal job. We have multiple uniforms. Helmet companies have pitched in. Now we have several different helmets. We’re giving them the same experience that they can garnish at a Power Five school right here at an HBCU.” Sanders said to Strahan.

Although Sanders interviewed for three Power Five jobs and was turned away, he hopes to give Jackson State University’s football team a chance to experience what it would be like to be a part of Power Five conferences, which are five athletic conferences that are considered to be the elite in college sports in the United States.

The show, created by Barstool Sports and SMAC Entertainment, will air Tuesdays and Thursdays for the next three weeks. It will be streamed across Barstool Sports digital, mobile and social platforms and will be available on demand afterwards.
