After nearly a 5 year hiatus, Kendrick Lamar will release his 5th studio album “Mr. Morale and The Big Steppers” next month in May 2022. Besides being on tour and performing during the 2022 super bowl halftime show, Kendrick has been quiet on the music scene the last few years.

Responding to a February tweet from SK that says, “Kendrick Lamar is officially retired,” the rapper responded with a link to oklama.com.

The link leads to a pgLang release, viewable through the oklama website. The following statement was released Monday by pgLang at 11:00am in Los Angeles, CA,” it states the album’s name and a release date set for May 13th, 2022. As the release confirms, “all factual information for this release will come directly from this source only.”

Lamar’s last album was 2017’s “DAMN,” which was a successful album that went triple platinum and received a Pulitzer Prize. In August, Lamar announced that he would be leaving his long-time label Top Dawg Entertainment and that this will be his last album under the label at this time.

In March 2020, Lamar and Dave Free started pgLang, which is a new multi-lingual service company. Early April 2022, the company had a big win, as Baby Keem won best rap performance at the Grammys for “Family Ties”.
