Early Tuesday morning, 18-year-old Salvador Ramos opened fire at Robb Elementary in the town of Uvalde killing 21 innocent individuals, 19 children and 2 adults.

The motive for the massacre has yet to be announced due to investigation and with authorities saying Ramos had no known criminal or mental health history.

Ramos crashed his truck into a ditch outside the school, grabbed his AR-15-style semi-automatic rifle and shot at two people outside a funeral home, who ran away uninjured where he later opened fire at Uvalde Elementary School.

Ramos entered the school and wounded two Uvalde police officers after an exchange of fire with him, where he later went into a classroom and began to kill.

Texas Department of Public Safety Director Steve McCraw said Wednesday that 40 minutes to an hour elapsed from when Ramos opened fire on the school security officer.

During the siege, which ended when U.S. Border Patrol and spouse to a 4th grade teacher at Uvalde Elementary, Jacob Albarado burst in and shot the gunman to death.

Prior to the school shooting, Ramos shot and wounded his grandmother at the home they shared.

President Joe Biden called for prayers for families who lost loved ones in the mass shooting by quoting Psalm 34:18, saying, “The Lord is near the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” He also blamed the gun lobby and gun manufacturers for school shootings as well as called for stricter gun laws in response.
