Trust God to finish his work

In Philippians 1:6 NIV Apostle Paul writes, “…being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

What happens when our actions don’t align with the work that God started in us? What happens when we’re no longer certain that he’s working within us at all?

Often times people believe that growing and transforming within your relationship with God is an easy process, but it is not.

Every now and then we can lose the battle with our flesh, or become tempted to back slide into old habits and behaviors that God has allowed us to overcome.

As a result, this causes us to doubt the growth that we have achieved, and God’s ability to complete the work that he’s started in us.

This is something that I have experienced recently amid my own walk with God.

After some reflection, I have come to understand that the enemy tries to tempt me the most when I’m on the verge of a breakthrough.

Understanding this concept has better equipped me to jump over any hurdle the enemy places in front of me more.

I’m also learning not to rely on myself as much when it comes to being responsible for my own growth. If God started the work in me, I can trust Him to finish it regardless of any slip up I might have.

To anyone currently encountering this problem, incorporate this prayer or one similar to it in your quiet time with God

Father,

Lately I’ve been feeling tempted to revert back to old habits and unhealthy behaviors. Please help me maintain the level of growth you’ve allowed me to achieve.

In Jesus name, amen
