It’s Hispanic Heritage Month, and we can’t let this time go by without talking about the impact they’ve made on culture in the United States.

Their presence is felt in music, fashion, food, politics, and so much more! America would not be America without the strong Hispanic influence that can be felt in almost any state you visit.

Here are five industries that Hispanic culture is integral in.

Music

Within the past two years, more and more Hispanic artists have been breaking records in the music industry. Bad Bunny, a popular reggaeton artist reached nine billion streams surpassing Justin Bieber and BTS.

More influential Hispanic artist include:

  • Mariah Carey
  • Jennifer Lopez
  • Pitbull
  • Camila Cabello
  • Shakira
  • Marc Anthony
  • Carlos Santana
  • Christina Auguilera

Fashion

Fashion is another industry Hispanic culture can be felt in. Their aesthetic is considered fashionable all across the United States.

Designers such as Oscar Dela Renta, Carolina Herrera, and Narciso Rodriguez have left their stamp in couture.

Cuisine

It can be argued that the Hispanic community has positively impacted cuisine the most in the United States.

Mexican food and Tex-Mex are two of the most desired food types all across the country. Other countries of Latin origin are starting to become popular. Brazil, Argentina, and Venezuela are starting to make their mark.

TV

Early on in TV Latin Americans did not receive roles with depth. The characters they portrayed reflected stereotypes within their community.

Despite their rough start in entertainment, iconic shows such as Jane the Virgin, Ugly Betty, and Queen of the South have shifted the narrative of Hispanic communities on TV.

Politics

Last but not least, Hispanics have positively impacted politics in the United States. People in office such as Marco Rubio and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have been able to make tangible change in their communities due to their roles.
