Pastor John Gray is in recovery after facing life-threatening condition
Greenville, South Carolina Pastor John Gray was admitted to a hospital in Alabama on July 7 then transported to the critical care unit due to a rare condition, Saddle Pulmonary Embolism, in the pulmonary artery and blood clots in the lungs.
Gray’s doctors explained that his SPE was trying to “destroy” and “suffocate him” where his pulmonary artery was “50% blocked.”
Pastor Gray’s wife, Aventer Gray urged his followers to pray so he could receive a “miracle” from God and that his clot would “shrink, shrivel, and die.”
“We can’t explain it, but we know that it’s God. And that it’s only God that has kept him and that is keeping him even now,” Aventer Gray, who co-pastors Relentless Church with her husband, told churchgoers during an address on Sunday, Greenville News reported. “He’s in amazing spirits and he can’t wait to see you all again.”
On Thursday evening, Aventer Gray posted on Facebook that “We are stable today, moving in the right direction.”
While a saddle pulmonary embolism is life-threatening, most people with the condition generally survive. Currently the Relentless Church Pastor is stable and moving in the right direction thanks to “prayers of the righteous that availed.”
“He is being unhooked from supplemental everything, because the timeline of how soon it would take to see these clots dissipate was accelerated by months and the only thing they could attribute this to was prayer,” Aventer Gray said.
Family spokeswoman Anne Torres confirmed that Gray has been released from the hospital, but no other information has yet to be released as of yet.
