The U.S. Capitol was under attack Wednesday as hundreds of pro-Trump rioters breached the building, forcing Congress and Vice President Mike Pence to evacuate the building.

The attack took place on the same day the electoral college was in the process of confirming Joe Biden as the winner of the 2020 presidential election.

Prior to the attack on the Capital, President Trump held a rally in which he told the crowd that he would go with them to the Capitol.

“If you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore,” said Trump.

Once the Capital was breached, the doors of the Senate were closed and locked, and the doors to the House were barricaded.

Several law enforcement officials confirmed that an intruder was shot and killed inside the Capitol during the mayhem.

As the night went on, authorities regained control and Congress resumed its process of confirming Biden’s electoral college win.
