There are single Christians all over the world. It seems as if church mothers can sense the singleness. Singles get invited to “set-up” dinners, where coincidentally you are sat next to another single. Every holiday your singleness seems to become the topic of discussion.

Singleness isn’t a curse, it’s a blessing. Learn how to embrace it.

Seasons Change, but Your Single Season May Stay The Same

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1)

God’s timing is divine. Society will have us thinking that by mid 20s we should be married with a dog and a baby on the way. That may be the case for many people but just not for you. Find comfort in knowing you cannot interfere with what God has ordained for you. Our vision for our lives and timelines most times do not coincide with God’s plans. However, his version is always way better. You may need to evaluate where your desires are coming from, the world or God.

I’m Good Alone

“It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” (Genesis 2:18)

Not all singles are walking around looking for a companion. Many Christian singles are out living their best lives. Many use the verse in Genesis to condemn singleness. Yet many people in the Bible that worshiped and were used by God, were also single. Go back and read how God used Esther, Jeremiah, and Daniel. You may be good alone but make sure you are honoring God and not idolizing others. Singleness isn’t a disease we must cure, but make sure you are obedient to God and allow him to guide your path.

The Wait

“For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.” (Matthew 7:8)

Singleness can sometimes be that itchy, ugly sweater you got for Christmas. Its uncomfortable and you aren’t quite sure how to get rid of it. If your desires are of God, he will provide. However, you must have patience. When entering marriage, you have to become selfless and consider your partner. Although marriage is a blessing it can serve as a distraction. Use your singleness to its entirety. Define and develop a strong relationship with God first.

If you are single and the season seems to have no end rest easy knowing whom holds your future. God is the best life coach and he has not forgotten about you. Have faith and know God values you so never seek value or validation from others.
